Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are celebrating critical victories after primaries in five states that have tightened their hold on the 2016 White House race.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio dropped out of the Republican contest after a landslide defeat in his home state to Mr Trump.

Republican contender John Kasich (Pron: kay-sick) won the race in Ohio where he's governor.

On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Mrs Clinton notched up projected wins in the sunshine state, Ohio, Illinois and North Carolina.
