LÉ NIAMH has successfully rescued 358 migrants in Libya.

At around 12:30pm this afternoon the Irish navy vessel conducted a search and rescue operation 110 kilometres north-west of Tripoli, rescuing 358 migrants from a wooden barge.

314 of the migrants on board were male, 30 were female and 14 of those were children.

All of those rescued in the operation are receiving food, water and medical attention.
