Con Horan, the former head of banking supervision at the Finncial Regulator's office, has begun giving evidence at the trial of three former Anglo Irish Bank executives.
He is the first witness from the regulator's office to take the stand.
Willie McAteer, Pat Whelan and Sean FitzPatrick deny providing unlawful financial assistance to 16 individuals to buy Anglo shares in July 2008.
