The High Court has granted lawyers for Denis OÂ’Brien access to a PR firmÂ’s' computers.

Denis OÂ’Brien is accusing Red Flag Consulting of conspiracy against him, and is seeking an order allowing him to inspect the company IT systems.

The firm, whose executives include former senior staff at Independent News and Media, have questioned how Mr. OÂ’Brien, a major shareholder at INM, got his hands on a dossier of their files.

In the High Court this afternoon, lawyers for Red Flag said they had no issue with the forensic imaging of their computers, a process by which photographs are taken of computer files.

But barrister Michael Collins SC for Red Flag questioned how Mr. O’Brien had obtained a dossier of files that were on his clients’ computers.

Mr Collins said his clients were concerned that their IT system had been hacked, and were investigating whether their systems had been breached.

The High Court previously heard that Mr. O’Brien had been given the dossier anonymously on a memory stick – files which he says contain defamatory material against him.

Michael Cush, acting for Denis O’Brien, said he was alleging a textbook case of conspiracy against Red Flag, a company whose executives include former INM CEO Gavin O’Reilly, and former executive Karl Brophy.

Judge Colm Mac Eochaidh granted an order for the forensic imaging of computers belonging to Red Flag, he also ordered that a memory stick be handed over to the plaintiff’s solicitor, and said that it should not be interfered with.

The case was put back until December 8th.
