The LÉ James Joyce has rescued a total of 433 migrants today in three separate missions in the Mediterranean.
Following a request from the Italian Maritime Rescue Co-Ordination Centre, 25 migrants were rescued from a wooden vessel located North West of Tripoli.
In a second mission, the Irish Naval vessel rescued 130 people from a rubber craft.
The ship then located another rubber vessel in the area and rescued a further 278 migrants.
Another 163 migrants were transferred to the LÉ James Joyce from an NGO vessel and all 596 rescued migrants will be brought to a Port of Safety where they will be transferred to the Italian authorities.
