Some big changes have been made to the Leaving cert appeals process.
From next year Leaving Certificate appeals will be released to students in the week beginning 16th September - a full three weeks earlier than the normal time-frame.
Results of the Leaving Cert will also be issued a day earlier to students.
In 2019, students will get their results on Tuesday, 13th August, while CAO Round 1 offers will be issued by Friday 16th August.
Colleges have also been told that from 2019, no first year undergraduate classes will start earlier than the second week of September.
Minister for Education and Skills, Joe McHugh, and Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell O’Connor made the announcement today.
It comes after Rebecca Carter won her case against the State Examination Commission to have the appeal of her Leaving Cert results decided before mid-October.
The 19-year-old had argued that the system was unfair as she wouldn't be able to start her course in time and have to accept a deferred offer for the following year.
