Actor Leonard Nimoy - who became an international star for his role in the original 'Star Trek' series - has died.

He was 83, and had been suffering lung disease.

He played Captain Spock in the sci-fi show and a series of subsequent films.

He later parodied the character on programmes like The Simpsons and The Big Bang Theory.
