A six year old girl has spoken of her horror of been savagely mauled by a neighbour's husky dog in Limerick.

The horrific attack, which happened last Wednesday, left the child with 17 stitches across her forehead and bite marks along her body.

Her family said she was lucky not to have been killed.

The dog has since been destroyed and a garda investigation is continuing into the incident.
