Three quarters of households don't have proper access to high speed broadband - according to a new survey.

Switcher.ie examined 27 thousand speed tests performed in every county - and found that Longford has the slowest speeds, while Dublin has the highest.

 

Business owners in rural areas have spoken of their frustration at how slow broadband affects their prospects.

Juliette Gash reports;
We spoke to Colm Healy, owner of Skelligs Chocolate in Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry. He said broadband is vital, not just for selling chocolate, but for communicating with customers.

"It is a vital ingredient in leveling the playing field. They want people to move to rural areas? This is a huge way of improving the chances of it happening."
