Luas staff announce 2 more strike days

Commuters will be hit with two more days of Luas strike action next month.

This afternoon Luas workers announced that they will down tools on the 8th and 17th of March.

Staff with the SIPTU union had already announced a 48 hour work stoppage on Thursday and Friday of this week, which  follows a similar strike last week.

Luas staff say they want parity with train drivers and are looking for wage rises of up to 54%.

Gerry Madden is Managing Director of Transdev Ireland which runs the Luas. He says that this will badly affect St. Patrick's Day festivities:
