Luas trams in Dublin had to apply the emergency brakes 550 times in 2018 - 20 less times than in 2017.
The main reason was because cars broke red lights (266 times), followed by pedestrians entering the tramway (223 times) and cyclists breaking red lights (61 times)
Despite the lower figure, Transdev is still warning people to be on high alert near trams and not to use mobile phones.
