Lung cancer rates high in Irish women

Lung cancer rates among women here remain stubbornly high - and are continuing to rise.

The annual report of the National Cancer Registry shows that the commonest cancer is breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.

Lung cancer is the commonest killer - although it's 'almost completely avoidable'.

Lung cancer mortality among women is the fourth highest in Europe - and 50 percent higher than the European average.
