A maintenance man has told a murder trial of his shock when a man's body came down a refuse chute that he was trying to unblock in an apartment complex in Cork in 2013.

Francis Forde told the court he was using a rod to clear the chute at the Garden City Apartment complex at North Main Street in Cork city on May 13th 2013 when he made the grim discovery.

He was giving evidence on the second day of the trial of 27 year old David O'Loughlin of Garden City Apartments who denies the murder of 59 year old Liam Manley - who was homeless.

The case continues before a jury of five men and seven women at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.
