New research has found that Irish men have soared to the 27th most obese in the world - up from a previous ranking of 63rd.
The worldwide study finds Irish men are among the most overweight in Europe, only surpassed by the UK, who're 25th.
The research in the Lancet finds that more adults in the world are obese than are underweight for the first time.
It also warns that a fifth of the world's population will be obese within ten years.
The report's author - Professor Majid Ezzati - says there are wide variations between countries.
