The bodies of a man and a woman have been discovered at a house in the Irishtown area of Claremorris in County Mayo.

It's believed the deceased were members of the same family - the man was aged in his seventies, while the woman was in her sixties. 

A third person, a younger man, has been discovered injured, nearby.

He is being treated at University College Hospital in Galway - his condition is not known.

A garda investigation is underway.

The scene has been preserved pending a full technical examination.
