A man has appeared before Limerick District Court in connection with the fatal assault of Gerard Freyne in Limerick city last week.

32 year old Wayne Kennedy of no fixed abode is accused of assault causing harm to the 53 year old on the 12th of October last.

He died two days later at Cork University Hospital.

No application for bail was made and the case was adjourned so that Mr Kenney could get medical attention.

He'll come before the court again on October 25th.
