A 61-year-old man has been granted bail after appearing in court accused of attempting to murder two people who were knocked down by a car during a riot in Belfast.
John Aughey, a prominent member of the Orange Order, appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.
His solicitor told the court Mr Aughey ‘profoundly regrets' what happened and said that the charge should be changed to dangerous driving rather than attempted murder.
A 16-year-old girl suffered a fractured pelvis after she was pinned underneath the car.
