A man has been arrested after a mother of four was abducted from her home in Co Longford yesterday.

The incident happened shortly after 4 O'clock when the woman in her late 20's was taken from her home in Edgeworthstown.

The woman's four children and three others were present at the time of the abduction - no one was injured during the course of the incident.

A major search operation was launched and the woman was safely located early this morning.

In a follow up operation - a man in his mid-20's was arrested and he is being detained at Granard Garda Station for questioning.
