At least eight people are dead and more than a dozen others injured after a truck was driven down a path & cycle lane in New York.
Mayor Bill de Blasio said authorities believe the incident was an 'act of terror'.

It happened in Lower Manhattan, a few blocks from the 9/11 memorial site.
The pick-up truck is said to have hit multiple people before crashing into another vehicle.
A suspect emerged with 'imitation firearms' and was shot by police before being taken into custody.
The vehicle struck multiple people on the path. There are several fatalities and numerous people injured.

NYPD confirmed no other suspect was being sought.
Members of the public were urged to avoid the area while emergency services responded.
