A man in his 20's has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Kildare.

A man armed with a hand gun entered a shop in the Dunbrin area of Athy at around 4.00 o' clock yesterday, he threatened staff before leaving with a sum of money.

Gardaí have recovered an imitation firearm along with a sum of money during a follow up operation.

The man is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, at Newbridge Garda Station.
