One man was arrested after a number of Garda vehicles were involved in a high speed car chase on the M50 in Dublin last night.

Eight Garda cars and the Garda helicopter responded to the incident shortly before 10pm.

Gardai followed the vehicle southbound and northbound on the motorway for 45 minutes and the chase eventually ended on the grounds of the Leopardstown Racecourse.

One man remains in Garda custody following the chase.
