A man in his thirties is being questioned in Cork after a number of dogs and horses were shot dead early this morning.

Gardai were alerted to a house in Newmarket in the North of the county, after shots were fired at about half past two this morning.

No one was injured but it's reported that a number of animals were shot.

A man was later detained and brought to Mallow Garda Station for questioning.
