A man who reportedly shot himself in the head in Dublin yesterday has died in hospital.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Gardai investigating an allegation that a woman was falsely imprisoned were observing a car being driven by a man - believed to be armed.

The driver lost control of the car, crashing into the Spawell Roundabout on the N81 near Templeogue, it's understood he then got out of the car and shot himself.
