A man in his twenties has been charged at Monaghan District Court in relation to an ATM stolen from Newry, County Down yesterday.

He was remanded in custody and is due before Carrickmacross District Court on the 11th of November.

Meanwhile, gardaí in County Monaghan have recovered the lorry used in the attempted murder of a PSNI officer who had been investigating the ATM robbery.

The lowloader had been driven at speed towards the policeman near Cullyhanna, County Antrim, causing him serious injuries.

He's now in a stable condition in hospital.

The truck was found burnt out near Castleblayney.
