A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 66-year-old woman in Tallaght in West Dublin.

Mary Dargan was shot dead at her home in Killinarden two days ago and her daughter was also injured in the attack.

Her next-door neighbour, James Redmond, has been charged with Mary's murder and the attempted murder of her daughter.

There were distressing scenes in court as members of the victim's family roared abuse at him as he was being led away.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
