A 19 year old man has appeared before a special sitting of Waterford District Court, charged with two counts of arson and one of burglary at properties in Ballybeg.

Gerard Halloran with an undisclosed address is charged with committing arson at St Saviours Gaa Club Ballybeg, and with a separate count of committing arson at the Ballybeg Youth Resource Centre last Saturday.

Mr Halloran is also charged with the burglary of St Saviours GAA Club on the same date.

Judge Gerard Furlong granted him free legal aid.

The state has objected to a request for bail, and has reserved its position on the matter.

Judge Furlong remanded Mr Halloran in custody to St Patricks Detention Centre in Dublin, to appear before Waterford District Court again on Tuesday.
