A man has been shot dead in Dublin.

It happened at Kiltalown Road in Tallaght at around half past ten last night.

The 35 year old man was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Two men have been arrested - they were detained near the scene last night and are being held at Tallaght Garda Station.

A car was also found burnt out nearby.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and a post mortem will be carried out later today.
