A man who was injured in an explosion in Youghal in Co Cork yesterday has passed away.

The man who was in his twenties was badly injured when an oil tank he was working on at a welding firm in Foxhole exploded.

He was airlifted to Cotk University Hospital where he passed away this afternoon.

The Health and Safety Authority is investigating the cause of the incident.
