Man Dies Following Suspected Explosion In Dublin

A man has died following a suspected explosion in Dublin's north inner city.

Gardaí and units of Dublin Fire Brigade are at the scene of an incident at a homeless shelter - on Little Britain Street.

The area is just off Capel Street in the capital.

Gardaí say the alarm was raised at around 3.30pm this afternoon after reports of a suspected explosion inside the premises.

Residents have been evacuated and a cordon is in place.

Traffic restrictions are in place and Dublin Fire Brigade is currently managing the scene.

De Paul which operates the homeless centre said in a statement it "can confirm that there was an incident this afternoon in our Little Britain Street service.

"It was a localised incident confined to one room.

"All service users will be evacuated from the building tonight and alternative placements will be found.

"Depaul are working with the DRHE and our NGO partners to ensure no person will be left without accommodation this evening."
