Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the country's 20th fatal farm accident this year.
TJ McDonagh, an agricultural contractor from Liscannor Co Clare, died last night after a wheel he had been fitting on a vehicle exploded.
He sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Galway University Hospital.
