Gardai are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Co Limerick last night.
It happened at around 11pm at a housing estate in the the town of Pallasgreen.
Sources in the emergency services said they responded to a report of a woman been assaulted when they discovered the body of a man at a house at The Grove, Pallasgreen.
There are unconfirmed reports the man, who is aged in his mid 20s, had been trying to intervene in a separate incident involving another man and a woman when he received fatal stab wounds.
Sources said the man was stabbed in the chest, abdomen, and arms.
His body remains at the house and a full scale Garda investigation is underway.
Gardai have sealed off the area and are conducting house to house enquiries.
