A man in his thirties has died in a crash in county Mayo.
His car left the N59 in Kilbride near Newport and struck a wooden fence at about 4.20 this morning.
His remains have since been removed to Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The road remains closed to a forensic examination of the scene and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
In a separate crash in Co Cavan, a man in his sixties was seriously injured in a crash on the N3 near Belturbet around 6pm yesterday.
He was the driver of a van that collided with a car.
The occupants of the car received treatment for non life threatening injuries.
