A 49 year old man has died in a fire at a farmhouse in County Roscommon.

The alarm was raised at the premises in Weekfield at a quarter to nine last night.

The man - who was alone at the time of the fire - was pronounced dead at the scene and a technical examination is due to be carried out to determine the cause of the blaze.

A post mortem is also expected to be carried out on the man's remains.
