Gardaí in Dublin are appealing for witnesses after a man drowned in the Grand Canal at Portobello.

The man in his early 20's got into difficulty while swimming in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He's described as being 5'8 inches in height with black hair.

He was wearing a black and blue shirt at the time.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been in the Portobello area between 4am and 4.45am last Saturday morning to contact them at Terenure Garda Station.
