A man will appear in court in Dublin this morning charged in connection with a carjacking in the capital last week.

During the incident a woman and her two children were forced to drive to an ATM and withdraw money.

At around half past 3 last Friday afternoon a woman was driving with her two children in Terenure in South Dublin.

At the junction of Zion Road and Orwell Road a man jumped into the car and ordered the woman to go home and get her bank cards, she was then forced to drive to an ATM in nearby Rathgar and to withdraw money.

Her assailant than instructed her to drive to the Portobello area, where he jumped out of the car.

The carjacking was one of five such incidents in recent weeks.

In this case, neither the woman nor her children were injured, but were very shaken by the experience.

Yesterday gardai arrested a man in his forties for questioning in connection with incident - he's due to appear before Dublin District Court at half past ten this morning.
