A 27 year old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Gerard Donnelly, who was burned to death in the Phoenix Park.

Ciaran Moran, last living in Camden Hall, Camden Street in Dublin, has been remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhall District Court.

Ciaran Moran had a visible head wound as he appeared in court this morning wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a grey sweatshirt.

Det Sgt Thomas Lynch gave evidence the 27 year old was charged just before midnight with the murder of Gerry Donnelly on or about last Friday at Wellington Road in the Phoenix Park.

The court heard he made no reply to the charge.

Defence solicitor Andrew Vallely applied for legal aid and he requested that his client would continue to receive medical attention while he’s in custody.

Judge Ann Ryan agreed to make that recommendation – she’s remanded Ciaran Moran for a week.
Gardai are continuing to question a 20 year old man and a 17 year old woman in connection with the murder.
