A man's been held overnight by Gardai investigating a stabbing incident in Ballina, Co Mayo.
The victim - a man in his 50's - is critically ill in Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.
The incident occurred at a house in Tom Clarke Place in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The man in custody is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
