The father of a former Limerick football star has given evidence that he will provide €10,000 in bail money for a man accused of the false imprisonment of three people.
John Galvin senior, from Carrigreen, Croom, Co Limerick, the father of recently retired three-time nominated All-Star footballer John Galvin junior, gave evidence at Ennis District Court this evening that he had the money in an AIB bank account, jointly managed by himself and his wife.
50-year old Thomas Howard of Gortnaminch, Listowel, is charged with the false imprisonment of a father, his daughter, and her boyfriend, at a house in Sixmilebridge, Co Clare, last month.
Mr Galvin told the court he had "no problem" providing the bail money for Howard, who is employed on his farm at Carrigreen Croom Co Limerick.
Thomas Howard is also charged with possession of a double barrel shotgun with intent to carry out a robbery on the same day.
Howard was remanded in custody with consent to bail, subject to the cash surety being lodged with the court.
Judge Patrick Durkan remanded Howard to appear before Ennis District Court again on September 2nd.
