A man is in a serious condition in hospital following an alleged assault in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
The 31 year-old man was taken to Saint James' Hospital after he and a second man - were involved in an altercation with a group of other men - on Captains Road in Crumlin at approximately 1.30am.
His condition is described as serious. The second man wasn't seriously injured.
Gardaí say it's understood the group of men fled the scene on foot - in the direction of Armagh Road/Windmill Road- after the incident.
A man in his mid 20's was arrested in connection with the investigation this afternoon. He is currently being detained at Crumlin Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
