A 54 year old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being shot a number of times in Limerick this morning.
Christy Keane - was shot on his way to the gym at the UL Sports arena at 6:50 this morning.
He was sustained a number of shotgun wounds after being approached by two armed and masked men.
The men left the scene in a car. Gardai are investigating whether a car found burned out a short distance away may have been used by the gunmen. A second car is also being forensically exmained.
The scene has been preserved for a technical and forensic examination.
