A man is in hospital after being hit by a bus in Dublin shortly after midnight.

The 29-year-old was seriously injured when he was hit by the bus on Merchants Quay in Dublin city centre.

He's been taken to St James' Hospital for treatment.

An examination of the scene was carried out and the road has since reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Kevin Street Garda station.
