Doctors say a British man with HIV, who is undergoing treatment to try to cure him, has shown "remarkable" progress.
The HIV research is being carried out by five of Britain's top universities in conjunction with the UK's National Health Service.
The 44-year-old man has chosen to remain anonymous.
He is the first of 50 people to complete a trial using a two-stage attack on the virus.
The researchers hope to find the first complete cure for HIV infection.
