A man's been questioned and released as part of the investigation into a suspected arson attack on a TD's constituency office.

A fire broke out at Michelle Mulherin's office in Ballina County Mayo at around 7 o'clock yesterday evening.

Gardai had been called out to investigate damage to a window and then spotted the blaze, which was quickly brought under control.

A 39 year old man was arrested in the Ballina area late last night and questioned, before being released from custody early this morning.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
