A man described as a "devout Muslim" has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for trying to kill his wife by beating her with a kettle bell.
The court heard the couple's marriage broke down after he lost his job and by May 2012 they had separated and she wanted a divorce.
Lounes Ouachek of St. Dominic's Terrace, Tallaght said he was "unhappy with the path she was going on" and attacked her at that address in August 2012.
She suffered a fractured skull and jaw and still suffers both physically and psychologically as a result of what happened.
