A man in his twenties has been seriously injured after he was hit by a truck on the N54 in Co. Monaghan.
The accident happened at around 11:15 am in the townland of Bandrum which is about 4.4 kilometres north of Monaghan town.
The man has been taken to Tallaght University Hospital while the driver of the truck was not injured.
Diversions are in place from the Monaghan side of the accident at Threemilehouse Road diverting to Newbliss, Clones and from the Clones side at the Rosslea Rd to Sweeney's Cross on to Scotstown and onward to Monaghan.
Gardai are appealing for any drivers who may have been on the road, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to contact at Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77240.
