A man has been shot dead in Dublin's north inner city.
It happened at around ten to midnight at Killarney Court apartments at Empress Place, off Portland Row.
The scene is sealed off pending a technical examination and the body remains at the scene.
The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
Dublin's Lord Mayor Christy Burke says local people are deeply shocked.
"The community is absolutely devastated," he said. "My heart goes out to the man's family. I am appealing for people in the area to remain calm."
