A man in his 30s has been shot dead in Dublin.

The shooting happened on Clonard St. in Balbriggan shortly after 9 o'clock this morning, close to a school.

A woman also received a gunshot wound to the leg during the incident, she's been brought to Beaumont hospital for treatment.

The scene has been sealed off for a Garda technical examination and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified

Gardai at Balbriggan station are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
