Gardai are investigating the fatal shooting of a man outside his home in County Meath last night.
The 55 year old man was sitting in a car at the old Mill housing estate at around 8pm when he was shot a number of times, in an apparent gangland style attack.
A post mortem on the man's body will take place today at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda this morning.
Crime Correspondent with the Irish Independent, Cathal McMahon, says that the man was a well-known criminal, and had in recent years been heavily involved in cigarette smuggling;
