A young man who killed his mother at their home in Dublin has been committed to the Central Mental Hospital for assessment.
Fionn Braidwood stabbed 65-year-old Jane Braidwood to death but a jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity.
Psychiatric evidence concluded that he was suffering from a relapse of paranoid schizophrenia when he stabbed his mother with a kitchen knife at their home at Clarinda Park, Dun Laoghaire on January 20th last year.
He also assaulted his sister when she tried to intervene and a passerby who came on the scene after hearing her screams for help.
His trial heard he had become obsessed with Nazis and was admitted to a psychiatric unit on a number of occasions between 2007 and 2014.
