Gardaí in Dublin have launched a man hunt after a businessman was held at gunpoint at a cash machine overnight.

The 44-year-old was attempting to lodge cash at a bank deposit box in Rathgar Village, when he was threatened by two men - one dressed in women's clothes.

Both men drove away in the direction of Terenure, in a car that had been parked at the scene.

The vehicle has since been recovered in the Harolds Cross area.

The car, with false registration plates was a silver Hyundai i40 with a taxi sign on the roof but no markings on the doors.

A large sum of cash was taken during the incident, however the businessman escaped unharmed .

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses - particularly anyone who may have passed the ATM machine at the Bank on Terenure Road East between 4.30 and 4.45a.m this morning.
